Foundation Program Level 1 (Elementary 1 Weeks 1-8) takes students from A1.2 Basic User (CEFR) to A2.2 Basic User (CEFR).
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, students should be able to do the following at the appropriate CEFR level:
Reading
• Identify main ideas, key information, details, and sequence of events in a range of simple, written texts.
• Recognize relationships between ideas, infer meaning from context, and make predictions in a simple written text.
Writing
• Write simple sentences on familiar topics like jobs, personal skills, likes and dislikes.
• Describe a picture of a person, place, or object in simple sentences.
Listening
• Distinguish between main ideas, supporting details, and examples contained in short audio and video clips.
• Explain the general meaning in a short audio or video with the help of signal words/phrases.
Speaking
• Give reasons and explanations for opinions/preferences with supporting details and examples, in relation to a familiar topic.
• Describe a picture or an event using the simple present/present continuous
• Engage in a conversation in which they introduce themselves, make sure they are being understood, and express agreement and disagreement.
• Ask and answer simple, everyday questions related to their classwork or daily life.
