Program DescriptionThe mission of the Associate of Science in Information Technology is to prepare students for entry-level employment in the Information Technology field. The program provides students with hands-on training in hardware, software, networking, user support, project management, technology maintenance and troubleshooting to accelerate information technology transfer to business and industry, and to support the IT needs of all organizations in the State of Qatar. On the other hand, students gain general education requirements along with specific technological expertise and real-world technical skills needed for entry-level work in the field or to pursue further studies in technology-related subjects.

Program Objectives

The Information Technology Program aims to produce graduates who:

  1. Understand the fundamental knowledge prerequisite for the practice of, or for advanced study in Information Technology including its scientific principles, rigorous analysis, and creative design.
  2. Provide solutions to challenging problems in their profession by applying Information Technology theories and principles.
  3. Communicate and collaborate successfully individually and within a team in both professional and social settings.
  4. Have the knowledge to evaluate the needs of an Information Technology infrastructure for an organization in Qatar.
  5. Will engage in life-long learning and professional development to adapt to rapidly changing work environment.
Learning Outcomes

By the time of graduation, students will be able to:

  1. Apply knowledge of Information Technology appropriate to the program's student outcomes and to the discipline
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of essential facts, concepts, principles, and theories relating to Information Technology.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge and skills to meet career requirements.
  4. Perform end user support including identifying and implementing solutions to user requests.
  5. Analyze technical requirements to determine resource requirements and the impact the solution will have on an organization.
  6. Analyze the local and global impact of Information Technology on individuals, organizations, and society
  7. Identify professional, ethical, legal, security and social issues and responsibilities.

Current Students:

To be eligible for the program, a student must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Foundation Level: Completion of Level 4
  • Transfers from another CCQ program: minimum GPA of 2.0
