Incomplete Grade (I) Policy
A student may be assigned an Incomplete (I) grade in a course if they have been consistently attending and completing coursework throughout the semester but were unable to fulfill all course requirements due to exceptional or compelling circumstances.
To be eligible for this grade, the student must:
- Submit an acceptable excuse explaining the reason for not completing the required work.
- Obtain approval from both the course instructor and the department chair within 48 hours after the final exam deadline.
- If the reason is medical, provide an official medical report from an accredited health center or from Hamad Medical Corporation.
If the student misses the final exam without submitting an acceptable excuse, they will be assigned a
Fail due to Absence (FA) grade.
How to Update the Grade:
If the student received an Incomplete grade due to missing the final exam, they must contact the course instructor directly to schedule a make-up exam.
The deadline to resolve and update the grade is within two weeks of the start of the following semester.
Once the required work or exams are completed, the instructor will submit the final grade, subject to approval by the department chair.
If the grade is not updated within the specified timeframe, it will automatically convert to

Only the Vice President for Academic Affairs has the authority to grant an extension to this deadline.
